What does the future of the Predators look like?

Here’s a look at a handful of Predators prospects that have been putting up interesting numbers in North American and European leagues:

In Milwaukee of the American Hockey League, 6-2, 203-pound forward Taylor Beck, a third-round draft pick in 2009, has a team-high 37 points (10 goals, 27 assists) in 42 games. A year ago in Milwaukee, Beck totaled only 40 points in 74 games.

In Portland of the Western Hockey League, 5-9, 167-pound forward Brendan Leipsic, a third-round pick last year, has piled up 105 points (42 goals, 63 assists) in 58 games. He leads the WHL in goals, assists and points.

In Kelowna of the Western Hockey League, 6-0, 187-pound forward Colton Sissons, a second-round pick last year, has notched 59 points (24 goals, 35 assists) in 51 games. Sissons has 34 points (24 goals, 35 assists) in his last 31 games.

At the University of Minnesota, 6-3, 229-pound forward Zach Budish has 26 points (10 goals, 16 assists) in 30 games for the nation’s second-ranked college team. A senior who could conceivably play for Milwaukee after his college season ends, Budish has 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in his last 12 games.

In Sweden, goalie Chet Pickard, one of the Preds’ first-round draft picks in 2008, is 23-18 with a 2.14 goals against average and a .918 save percentage. He is playing for Djurgarden, which is in Sweden’s second-tier league. But the numbers are still encouraging for Pickard, whose save percentage was below .900 in each of his first three professional seasons.
